What’s this all about?
Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) is considered to be one of the most important safety features developed since the seatbelt. It monitors the road ahead and automatically brakes if the driver fails to respond to an emergency situation meaning it can reduce the impact, or even stop the accident from happening in the first place.
So, what does this mean for you?
Some vehicles have had AEB for a few years and the motor industry is increasing its usage in new cars as it is a key factor to achieving Euro NCAP 5 Star rating. Also, since November this year, it has become a legal requirement for newly registered vehicles over 7.5 tonnes (with some exceptions).
AEB can stop or reduce the impact of accidents meaning you will be safer and therefore likely to have fewer claims. Thatcham research centre have been working to show the benefits of fitting AEB to find out more click here.
If your vehicle has AEB fitted please let us know as some insurers will look to reflect this in your car insurance or fleet insurance premium.
