With Christmas over you may still be fawning over your new iPad or Games Console whilst relaxing on your new ‘half-price’ sofa you bought in the sales, however you may have forgotten to inform your home insurance of these new expensive items.
You may find there is an additional cost to add these items to your insurance, however it will pay-off in the long run if young children or pets also want to play with your new goodies.
Also be sure not to underestimate the value of your goods, as while it may make it cheaper to add to your insurance you could be left out of pocket in the event of a replacement should something unexpected happen.
You should also make your insurance company aware if you are planning to take any of your new items out of the home as this will need to be noted on your policy. For example you may have received a new watch for Christmas or a new iPhone. It’s also a good idea to take photos of any expensive jewellery items in case they get stolen, along with keeping any receipts for goods purchased.
Remember that insurance is for life, not just for Christmas.
