Tips for Winter Driving

With the cold weather setting in this week we thought it would be good to give our readers some tips on driving safely this winter:

• Keep your vehicle maintained – Check the battery, tyre treads, oil level, coolant levels, screen wash and wiper blades
• Have a winter emergency kit with things like a blanket, de-icer, first aid kit, jump leads, torch and food and drink
• Plan ahead – check the weather forecast and have an alternative route in case of road closures
• Clean off snow and ice from your windscreen, windows and roof before driving
• Turn your headlights on – even during the day so other drivers can clearly see you
• Ensure your mobile phone is fully charged and take a charger with you in the car
• Check your breakdown policy is up to date and you are fully covered should you breakdown
• Check your insurance is up to date and you are fully covered should you have an accident
